Katy Perry Takes Over
It’s official, Katy Perry’s single, “I Kissed A Girl”, will spend the next week at #5 on the Billboard Charts. We first told you about this artist four months ago in this post and also predicted that the song would go into the Top10.
Katy is someone we discovered in late 2005 while she was still unsigned. We were fortunate enough to attend her label showcase in spring of last year, after she signed with Jason Flom. It still remains the only showcase we’ve ever attented where the artist managed to make an entire room full of industry people sing along to one of her songs. The track was “Ur So Gay”, which can be heard here.
Don’t let “I Kissed A Girl” fool you. It may be a generic pop song, released only to cause controversy, but Katy is more than just another wannabe. She is a real singer/songwriter, has more charisma and personality than every girl in her genre, and her album is filled with radio hits. She is here to stay, whether you like it or not!
