Warner to give Perez Hilton his own imprint: “Mr. Lavandeira (Perez Hilton) has been negotiating a deal that would provide him with his own imprint at Warner Brothers Records, a division of the music giant Warner Music Group, he said. This was confirmed by several other people associated with the talks who spoke on condition of anonymity because no deal has been. ” (via NY Times)
Michael Nash to replace Alejandro Zubillaga: “Warner Music Group (WMG) today confirmed that Michael Nash will replace Alejandro Zubillaga as the firm’s new digital strategy and business development VP.” (via The Register)
People are buying more music: “According to The NPD Group, a leading provider of consumer and retail information, the amount of music that consumers acquired in the U.S. increased by 6 percent in 2007. A sharp increase in legal digital download revenues could not offset declines in CD sales, which resulted in a net 10 percent decline in music spending (from $44 to $40 per capita among Internet users). As a result the overall portion of music acquisition that consumers actually paid for fell to 42 percent in 2007 from 48 percent in 2006.” (via NPD)
