Victory Records Re-Ups With RED & Settles Differences With Hawthorne Heights: “Tony Brummel’s marketshare-leading indie label Victory Records has re-upped for distribution with RED. In other Victory news, the label has settled its differences with Hawthorne Heights and will release the band’s new studio album later this summer.” (via Hits)

TalkTalk refuses to become ‘internet police’: “TalkTalk, the home phone and broadband company from The Carphone Warehouse, is refusing to buckle under pressure from the music and film industries to impinge its customers’ rights and restrict their freedom of use of the internet. TalkTalk is the first ISP to reject the BPI’s ‘three strikes’ scheme which would require it to disconnect customers who had been deemed by the music industry body to have shared content under copyright.” (via TalkTalk)

MySpace Latino To Launch With New Communities: “After a year in a beta testing phase, MySpace Latino will get its official launch this Friday (April 11) with several new communities directed at U.S. Latinos. The bilingual site, accessible via latino.myspace.com, has spent the last year getting user feedback and setting up content collaborations and media partnerships to fuel the Latin-focused communities on its front page.” (via Billboard)

Imeem Officially Seals Snocap Acquisition: “Imeem has now officially sealed its acquisition of Snocap, an expected development. The deal, which first surfaced in February, was confirmed Monday. Terms of the buyout were not disclosed, though Snocap is being acquired during a difficult low-point.” (via DMN)

BORTNICK JOINS KOBALT: “Former Warner/Chappell SVP A&R Bob Bortnick joins online music publisher Kobalt Music Group as SVP Creative, it was announced today by Founder/CEO Willard Ahdritz. Bortnick will report to EVP Creative Affairs Sas Metcalfe and EVP/GM and General Counsel U.S. Michael Petersen. Based in N.Y., Bortnick’s duties will include writer relations, catalog acquisitions, creative services, writer/artist development and bringing Sas and Michael their morning java. Bortnick’s signings at Warner/Chappell included Paramore, Muse, Underoath and Killswitch Engage, among others. Prior to that, he was a creative director at Almo Sounds, where he worked with Garbage and Gillian Welch.” (via Hits)
