UMG’s 2007 Earnings: “Universal Music Group suffered a difficult 2007, thanks to a cocktail of negative factors. Parent company Vivendi pointed to an annual profit dip of 16.1 percent to 624 million euros ($946.6 million), calculated as EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization). A sinking dollar depressed the outcome, and profits measured at constant currencies dropped a more modest 12.9 percent.” (via DMN)

Alexander & Herre Helm New EMI Units: “Stephen Alexander, who has served for the past five years as managing director at Terra Firma, Hands’ equity firm which bought EMI last year, becomes executive VP of the CCSA division. Meanwhile, EMI Music Licensing and Synch has been created, with Ronn Werre rising to executive VP of the unit. Werre, who joined EMI Music 10 years ago as VP of major accounts, was promoted in 2005 to president of EMI Music Marketing in North America overseeing sales, catalog, synch, licensing and special markets.” (via Billboard)
